dawn at Lake Ella

Truly it was already 80°F at 6:00 am, wtf. Anyway, I hustled us out the door so we were done before the sun was barely breaking over the treelines. I am channeling my father when I say, “gonna be a scorcher!”

Rain later, maybe. I’ve stopped having any faith in weather forecasts, since the weather itself is too wonky to be anticipated unless it is a major storm.

Keely was not too thrilled to be hiking through the heat, which of course she did not realize until we were already out in it. The blessing and the curse of living only in the present moment is not realizing how miserable something is going to be until you are miserable! ahahaha. There were a few regulars out, but not as many homeless people as I’ve seen over the past month. Rounded up or just hiding from the heat?

I actually took this picture back in May. Every quarter the city water-jets the sidewalks around Lake Ella clean. They do it over the course of a week, early in the morning, so breaks like this snake around the park. I liked the contrast and the variety of grays:
