dawn at Lake Ella

7/9/2022 – Saturday

This morning was discombobulated as, when I initially got up between 5:30-6:00am, my trusty weather apps both said that it was cloudy with a light chance of rain. As I put on my sneakers, Keely anxiously waiting by the door, the floodgates opened and a torrential downpour hit. Keely immediately switched gears to beg for her breakfast while I stood staring out the door with the leash in my hand. Okay, then, weather! You win!

Fortunately it was a short downpour, and by 7:00am we were out and about. Went to Los Robles as I knew the park at Lake Ella would be drenched and drippy and damp, which Keely would hate to the point of trying to drag me out into the street to avoid the wet sidewalk, as she is wont to do. Los Robles was quiet, since it is Saturday so all the normies were not filing out on their weekday commutes.

Took this shot of a street lamp being eaten alive by the surrounding flora — this kind of thing happens fast, especially during summer.

In other news, the SoDough donut bakery at the corner of 6th and Thomasville has shut down. A quick check on FB shows that their last day was June 26th, due apparently to rising costs of ingredients and a basic slowdown of the economy. It was a cute little local shop and I’m sorry to see it go.
