Day is starting off fast for me! Recording a podcast with my Around the Writer’s Table co-hosts at 9:30 am, then a scheduled 11:30 am phone call to catch up with my friend Jeanine. Still, I’m feeling a little sluggish, and Keely did not drag me out for a walk until about 6:45 am. It was already 75°F with 95% humidity by then, although the sun had not quite lifted off the horizon yet.
Keely was feeling stubborn and did NOT want to walk around Lake Ella, so dragged me across Monroe to the Publix plaza, where she wandered around smelling everything that was not in actual motion. *rolls eyes* I finally coaxed her up to Duval and we got home just as the sunlight was scraping over the tops of the trees.
Along the way I took this shot, which is a bit of sidewalk on the parking lot entrance ramp to Duval. We got some brief but torrential downpours yesterday so life, uh, finds a way:
Things are still hot and miserable here in Florida, but ironically and, tragically, not as hot as it is for my friends “across the pond” (the big one, not Lake Ella!). Most of Europe is not built with the infrastructure to handle 40°C heat and I know a lot of them are feeling wretched right now. I hope everyone stays inside and stays hydrated and stays safe! Climate change SUCKS.
