dawn at Lake Ella

7/22/2022 – Friday

Slept well and woke up feeling good, so we were out the door by 6:15 am, well before dawn. It was still 76°F and 96% humidity, though, so it was hardly pleasant, but at least not too miserable! We’re deep in to the summer doldrums, everything is weighted with the haze of extended hot days and drenching rains. Grateful for the rain, of course, because otherwise we’d be facing a lot of fires.

This photo is interesting, because I’m not at all sure how this happened. It is, obviously, a piece of a tree branch wrapped in wire. The mystery of it is that the wire is off of a utility line, which it is still attached to. It is one of those wires they use to secure two cables together, and they snap often enough, but I wonder if this one snapped, wrapped around a branch, then snapped the branch on the rebound? Or something? So odd.

Today being Friday, I’m trying to get a lot of things done before the sabbath starts officially. I’ve taken to following the sabbath insofar as making it my official day off from working…otherwise I tend to work seven days a week at some level, which is not healthy. But then of course that means I feel pressured to get a lot done before sundown! Can’t win for losing, ahahah!
