It was only about 75°F and 90% humidity this morning, so it made for an almost pleasant walk. For some reason Keely decided she did NOT want to go to Lake Ella, so we did a walk down Thomasville to 3rd Ave. and back up on Monroe St., but fortunately it was still early enough that there wasn’t much traffic to deal with. At one point Keely seemed to tracking something very exciting around the RedWire building, so there was some fast paced back-and-forth going on for a bit. I mostly stood there and kept her from dashing into the street (“not much” traffic does not mean “none”!).
However, I did not get a photo of that. This photo is from earlier in the week, by Lake Ella (it’s the water in the background). Keely was not aware I was taking her photo just yet, so I managed to get her whole face in the shot! Amazing! Love the bit of dramatic backlight, it’s no less than she deserves!
Today I am meeting up with friends for lunch then going to services this evening, so might not be too productive. Either way, looking forward to a day of rest!
I’ve managed to pick up drawing again, so I might spend time tomorrow on that. I’ve found a work-around for my perfectionism: I only use markers, not pencils. With pencil/graphite I always feel like I can erase/smudge and fix whatever I’m unhappy about, which just leads to a downward spiral of never finishing and then never starting. Instead, with ink, the line can be drawn over but not changed. In some weird way that has been freeing to me. Without the ability to “fix it” I just have to accept what is there and move on. The result is me actually enjoying the process again! Success!
