dawn at Lake Ella

8/19/2022 – Friday

Another week rolls by, as hard as that is to believe! My biggest regret of yesterday was that I did not do any drawing/art, so I’ll make that a priority for tomorrow which is my “day off” from my self-imposed work schedule.

Today’s picture is the front porch of Joe’s Bike Shop at Lake Ella. Yeah, I don’t have any idea what’s going on either!

In other news, it’s still summer. *sigh* Was 74°F with 90% humidity when we got out a bit after 7:00 am. The sun was barely peeking over the horizon but by the time we were back at 7th and Monroe, we were getting sliced by the heat rays of the day star. Now a few hours later it’s 84°F / “feels like” 92°F. Bleargh!!! Blinds are all closed, and I’m super grateful for the reflective film covering I put in earlier this year.

We’re still getting new duckling hatchings, too, and it’s late for ’em. But then, I doubt we’ll see anything resembling autumn until November, if then, so I’m sure they will be fine if they can survive the foxes and the turtles.

In sadder news, there seems to be one Canada Goose who is (possibly) suffering wing rot (due to all the bread these birds get fed). I am no fan of those geese but it is heartbreaking to see this lonely loner bird hopping about, unable to fly ever again, left behind by its kin as they sail away.
