Last week was such a blur at work that honestly I feel like today is the day the countdown begins for me to leaving this job for good. That makes me sad in some ways, as this was a soft, kind landing for me out of grad school and out of poverty back in 2013. But also the excitement is building because I truly am looking forward to what I can accomplish on my own!
Nonetheless, I’m still “on the clock” until March 3rd, so up and at ’em! Keely and I had a nice walk around Lake Ella, although it was a bit damp from the rains last night. Things are mostly unchanged right now: Leon Brunson’s café is not open for dine-in yet, but he’s clearly been busy with holiday parties and catering; the End Times Country Buffet’s sign is still standing proud over a completely empty and leveled lot; the mystery business in the Chandler House appears to still be doing business; and all the other businesses are back to normal hours (pandemic be damned, I guess…well, it’s Florida. So. We’re all damned!).
I finally got to see KimM yesterday, and we ended up hanging out for most of the morning and afternoon just catching up. Her COVID scare was indeed scary but she did not need to be hospitalized, so we’re grateful for that. But she’s testing negative again and feeling bouncy enough to hang a legit disco ball in her living room so I know things are fine!
I took a photo of this at her house, as I was interested in how the first letter is broken. I won’t go so far as to say it’s poetic but it is not a terrible analogy, is it?
Time for more tea, I think. How quickly I adjusted to sleeping in to 7 am over winter break! *yawwwwwnnnnn*
