Who?
I’m KimBoo York and I enjoy telling stories, but otherwise I’m pretty trustworthy!
I’ve been a storyteller my entire life, in the most embarrassing possible ways. (We don’t need to discuss my early teenage Kirk/Spock fanfic. We really don’t.)
These days I write original fiction: urban fantasy, paranormal romance, speculative sci-fi, and serialized epics with the kind of deep worldbuilding that makes you want to draw maps and argue about fictional politics with strangers on the internet. My north stars are stories like The Mummy (the 1999 one — yes, I will die on this hill), Nirvana in Fire, Dragonriders of Pern, and Star Wars: A New Hope.
In other words, stories built for the sheer joy of the ride.
I’m not here to deliver Important Messaging or make you feel the Weight of the Human Condition (I mean, if you do, then bonus points!). I’m here to make you forget to go to sleep because you need to know what happens next.
That’s the goal. That’s always been the goal.
I’m also a lifelong fangirl with over a million words of fanfiction on AO3, and not one regret! I’m also a librarian by training, which means I have Opinions (capital O) about information architecture, discoverability, and why your local library deserves your support. LOVE YOUR LOCAL LIBRARY!!!!!
My Fiction
- Polyamorous and MMF relationships — not as a gimmick, but because that’s how some of these characters love
- Deep worldbuilding — the kind with internal logic and history and politics that exists whether or not it ends up on the page
- Genre-hopping — urban fantasy, paranormal romance, speculative science fiction, and the occasional thing that defies easy categorization
- Serialized epics — ongoing stories told in arcs, because some stories are too big for a single book

Keely Boo York
Most important thing to know about me is that I owned the best dog — the BEST, sorry, I don’t make the rules — who was adorable and occasionally cuddly. Sadly, she passed away on August 1, 2025, at the ripe old age of 17. I’m so glad I had her for as long as I did!
Keely Boo was a rescue with a mysterious past, and deserves a book series of her own. Or a tv show. Although admittedly she liked to sleep about 20 hours a day so it would not make for riveting drama!
