dawn at Lake Ella

1/20/2022 – Thursday, and I’m grumpy

It’s Thursday and I woke up grumpy and things are looking to hold steady. >:(

This is unusual for me! I’m rarely just generally out of sorts like this, and I don’t know what set me off since I got a good night’s sleep. *shrug* Sometimes the brain just has to do its thing, I guess.

Still got Keely out for a walk by 5:30 am, despite the 40°F temps. At least it wasn’t damp, although we have a rainy cold front moving through later today which will switch things up. (Maybe that’s why I’m grumpy? Weather related? Does this mean I am that old granny on the stoop threatening everyone with “tha barommmeter’s droppin’!”??? Oh lordt.)

Keely was hot on the fox’s trail, though. I can tell the difference between “pee-mail” and “Vile Fox Intruder Alert” because Keely is so laid back about the former: Somedog peed on this bush? Hmmm. Must smell for a bit; interesting. Oh look, a rock!

Tracking the fox results in a lot more erratic behavior, with her nose-to-the-ground as she zips back and forth over the sidewalk and into bushes and around trees. She particularly wanted to dash across the northside of Lake Ella Drive, towards the Methodist Church, and was very annoyed that I would not let her go hunt down her nemesis!

While I took a photo this morning I’m not happy with it, so instead of that I’m sharing this interesting oak tree trunk from the Los Robles neighborhood, which I took a few days ago. I’m getting better at photo processing in Photoshop/GIMP and I like how this one turned out, as it highlights what I thought was interesting about it:
