dawn at Lake Ella

10/7/2020 – Wednesday

A quiet and rooftop-cloudy morning, where the fog hung high over the buildings and trees but obscured visibility. Everything was misty and damp despite the lack of rain, and it was in the mid-70s°F so it all felt lukewarm.

Keely was not about getting up this morning, strewn out on her bed in my studio until I got dress and woke her up with cuddles. I never can tell what makes the difference between a morning where she’s pushing me out of bed and out the door versus one where she dozes until I drag her up and out. In any case, once I got her on all four little paws she was ready to go.

With hurricane Delta creeping into the gulf this morning, there is no way to know what the next few days could end up like. It is far enough west that it might suck up all the weather and leave us with clear skies, but for a hurricane it is disorganized so might spread rain over a 500 mile swath of coastline. *shrugs* Hurricane season is such a crap shoot.

So, I’ll be taking the bus the next few days, because I don’t want to be stuck on my scooter or bike in the rain. We have one staff member in quarantine, so I have to come in extra on Friday to help cover. Wheeee.

But for the meantime it was just another typical, moist Florida morning. Personally I’m feeling a bit lethargic and stressed so I had to remember to slow down and enjoy the walk, letting Keely sniff around to her heart’s desire. By the time I was headed out for the bus she was flat on my bed, snoring. Ahhhh, that’s the life!
