dawn at Lake Ella

11/13/2022 – Sunday

Cold weather snuck in like a thief in the night, so it was only about 55°F when we went out for our walk a little bit before 7:00 am. Keely enjoyed it a lot, so we went the long way down to 3rd and then up Duval to Publix before circling back home. I listened to a whole episode of Family Secrets, which is such a great podcast, and is giving me some idea for future posts to my (mostly) defunct blog on grief/trauma, Patience & Fortitude. That site really needs an overhaul too, so maybe might do that as a fun side project later this week…

While I was mulling on all of that we went by Hopkins Eatery and saw this interesting sign’o’times:

lettuce shortage sign

Not that I particularly mind this shortage, personally, as I do not like lettuce on my food. I’ll take a bit of arugula on a pizza, but otherwise I’m not keen on lettuce adorning my burgers and I’ve never been a fan of lettuce-based salads in general. Still, the bigger picture is the important aspect here, which is: things are not “normal” and I doubt they ever will be again in my lifetime. I follow a YouTube channel that tracks the maritime shipping industry worldwide, and it’s a good eye-opener if you want to really know what is going on outside of press releases and offside comments in news articles. There are a lot of things happening below the average consumer’s radar, and honestly, so much of it has to do with the trickle-down affects of COVID + climate change.
