dawn at Lake Ella

12/13/2022 – Tuesday

Good morning from the bright morning sunrise over here at Jacksonville. I’m not here on vacation but there will be some down time here and there. We’re staying at a very bland AirBnB, which was not my choice but I’m here as a support brace.

I already miss my dog, who is being looked after by a trusted neighbor. If you don’t know, she really hates baths! Here she is after her bath on Sunday, very affronted by the whole ordeal and with no idea that I will be gone for most of this week:

I used to work in JAX as a contractor for Citizens Property Insurance wayyyy back in 2007 or so, and while it has changed a lot in regards of more metropolitan growth, I find the place flat and bland in the same way Orlando is. I know many people love how Florida looks but I never have…if anything being in Jax reminds me that my goal is to get OUT of this region entirely.

Also, being in the suburbs (we’re staying at an apartment complex on Baymeadows which is basically a very long road framed by repetitive, cheaply built subdivisions) also reminds me of all the things I don’t want in my life. This is a nice apartment, definitely nicer than where I live now in terms of amenities and layout, and yet you could not pay me enough to live in such insipid architecture in the middle of nowhere.
