dawn at Lake Ella

12/22/2021 – Wednesday

My week is flying by! I am spending my days working on my business and my writing — turns out recording videos with slides and a script-via-teleprompter is an actual skillset I am having to learn! I too am shocked that this is not an innate ability that I was born with.

Which means SO MANY retakes, and also voice training as I apparently get croaky after talking non-stop for over 15 minutes. This was not a problem when I was younger, I think to myself, conveniently forgetting that when I was younger 1) my body was more limber and faster to recover and 2) I actually had friends I spent time talking to for hours on end.

Not to say I don’t have friends now! But those days of “hanging out” at someone’s apartment while we all ate and watched terrible movies and talked all night are loooooong gone. I don’t even miss them that much but clearly my vocal chords are suffering from lack of use, especially in the post-quarantimes where I literally spent a year and half only talking out loud for about 20 minutes a week. o.O Apparently living alone has it’s price!

But I am keeping at is since, after all, practice makes perfect…or in this case, salvageable.

Today was a slow start anyway as it was very cold this morning (43°F!!!!) so I did not want to head out for our walk until the sun was actually rising. Keely did not complain about it until 7:30 am, fortunately…I guess because the house is cold and she was lying next to me oh-so-accidentally right where my heating pad was. She’s no fool!

Here she is walking around in a recently mulched yard, and by “mulched” I mean that Florida staple, pine needles.

I always have to de-needle her when she climbs out of such piles but she will not be deterred from peeing on precisely the plant she wants to pee on, so the cycle continues. She was also super happy later when, unbeknownst to me, she picked up a dirty chicken leg to gnaw on. I was lost in thought and marveling at how she was not interested in slowing down for anything when I noticed a big bone sticking out of her mouth.

She was unrepentant but I still managed to wrangle it away from her. *sigh* Great start to the day for both of us, ahahaha!
