I am not a Christian but I do appreciate the aspects of this holiday that focus on love and family (of origin or found!) and peace-on-earth. Aspirations humanity keeps falling short on but still worthy of pursuit!
This morning’s walk was super long, a choice I made and Keely fully endorsed. I spent most of yesterday in bed; no, I wasn’t sick. But as my self-selected work start time of 10 am crept up on me, I was very resistant. I figured it would be a frustrating day of getting very little done, but then I thought: why?
Why bother when I did not need to? I had no meetings or deadlines, just my own self-set daily goals that I already knew I was not going to meet. In a stroke of…well, not genius, but definitely not a common thought for me, I decided to just take the day off. No work, no writing, no chores. DAY. OFF.
It was so relaxing! I meandered around the house and took a long afternoon nap and read a whole-ass long fanfic and then had a couple of beers while watching the Wheel of Time season finale (IT IS SO GOOD! SQUEEEEEEEEEE)
But yeah, a whole day in bed made my joints creak (bleargh! aging! not for the weak!) so I took Keely the full loop around the Los Robles neighborhood and then down Thomasville Road. That’s about two miles! Mind you, it was at Keely-speed, which is roughly .04 mph, so there went my morning!
The Day of Rest did it’s job, though, and I’m feeling much more put together this morning, even if the long walk means I did not start work until 10:30am.
In other news, as we were passing this strip mall, I realized that the sign for Wild Cajun Seafood was down. There are “under renovations!” signs all over the actual restaurant entrances, but…why take down the sign? I suspect a venue change is in progress:
