dawn at Lake Ella

3/24/2021 – Wednesday

So what was expected to be a busy morning for me at work turned out to be less so due to a few meeting cancellations, which I’m grateful for since I slept late and did not get a chance to pen this before heading out the door to work.

Just another day, then — up and walking Keely, albeit a little late at just after 6 am. Still early enough that I got a few moments to sing along with my “Learn to Sing!” app. My scores are still abysmal but that’s to be expected. I keep telling myself that.

Keely was fully recovered from the dire betrayal of last night, when I gave her a bath after her evening walk. She truly hates being wet for any reason, and gives me such sad cow eyes every time I dump water on her, but it’s her first bath since she was operated on over a month ago and she really needed a thorough cleanse. Which, as I mentioned, she hates. So, I got the cold shoulder all night but she is a dog, after all, and was over it by the time we got up.

Something is lurking around the park more than usual, and I suspect it is a fox. I’ve seen a few over the years slinking around trying to steal ducks and duck’s eggs, so I assume spring has brought them out. I only assume this because Keely waffles back and forth between “dog on a hunt” mode, dragging me along behind her as she plows into palmettos and bushes,  and “get away get away gET AWAYYYY” mode where she sprints off like a tiny, overweight greyhound from whatever she smelled that spooked her. I don’t really need to add that she’s more a lover and not a fighter!

Today’s picture is from a few days ago, of a tree in Los Robles with a face. It’s always had a face, as far as I can remember, although details get replaced after they suffer the wear and tear of bad weather. I’m not entirely sure the tree is happy about it, though. tree with a face
