I’m just now starting the process of “finding my groove” to my self-employed workday. When I trialed it over the 3-week winter vacation, I fell into a solid groove where my best working hours were from 10am-3pm, give or take, with a break for brunch. So, that’s what I’m aiming for, but admittedly it might take a few days to get back to that mindset. One thing I’ve done is turn off my morning alarms, at least for now. As summer creeps up I will definitely want to get Keely out for her morning walk between 6 and 7am, before the sun and the heat rise. I foresee a lot of experimentation ahead!
Alas, last night’s sleep was broken by a gawd-awful cacophony around 2am. I woke up to the loud sound of metal clanging and I thought, “if someone is trying to break in they are doing a piss poor job of it.” Which I suppose shows how much of my life has been spent in the low-class side of town! Ha! After turning on lights and disturbing the dog, I saw that the metal soap dish in the shower had fallen down (it’s held in place by suction, so nothing technically broke). By that point, though, going back to a deep sleep was not in the cards. *sob*
We got out around 7:30 am, and the late start convinced Keely that it was a “walk all over the place” day and not a “trot around Lake Ella day.” Fine by me, although I’m not used to dodging so much traffic!
Caught this interesting bit of Americana at the Blue Tavern, a bar that I guess serves lunch now? Mostly they have blues and folk music events, and it is really small. Someday when I feel like being around crowds of people again I’ll have to actually attend a show.
