Back on schedule! Sorta. Still slept in, but mostly because I kept waking up throughout the night — very unlike me, I’m generally a sound sleeper, but I suspect the ambient stress of world wide catastrophe will do that to ya’. *grimaces*
We got out by 6:38 am, and honestly, I can’t tell that things are all too different even with the two major universities in town being basically shut down. FSU is officially operational, but anyone who can work remotely is required to do so. But going on 7 am and traffic was still thick on the roads.
People were out around the park too, walking alone or in pairs, and I suspect these are the “regulars” who get a later start than Have A Nice Day! guy and I do. Given that without any kind of actual commute to work I don’t have to get up until 6 am, I’m interested to see the patterns of the mornings unfold for me. They are often like puzzles, trying to figure out where people fit — are they retired? Out before or after work?
I often see people start a routine and then disappear, showing up for a few weeks or even just a few days and then going MIA. One of them was a regular for a long time, actual years of walking around the park for 3-4 mornings a week but then up and disappeared, and I honestly worry about her. But most come and go like flotsam on a flowing river, mostly interchangeable and always temporary.
The old Purdue Auto building is still undergoing renovations, and it looks like the crossfit studio is still planning to move in when it’s all ready (and if the economy doesn’t completely tank). So I wonder how that will affect the local foot traffic in the mornings, with crossfitters doing short runs/walks around. It will shake things up a little, if so.
