dawn at Lake Ella

3/27/2020 – Friday

Out by 6 am, and the birds were quiet again. (I guess they don’t wake up until seven?) Spring has hit hard, and the weather was a harbinger of mornings to come: damp, humid, and warm.

[this is a photo I took yesterday of the amaryllis outside my front door, they only bloom once a year!]

I was fully rested but awake, mostly because I took my sinus meds early enough in the evening for once not to knock me out for half the morning. As I walked around the park I reflected on what a jumbled week it has been for me and everyone I know. This was our departments’s first full week of wfh (working from home), everyone is stressed about covid19, and my sinuses were in a painful, snotty fit because of the haze of pollen in the air. I don’t think anyone is on settled footing right now.

I try to be lenient with my insecurities and fears — I’m only human, after all.

As usual at this time of the morning, Lake Ella Park was fairly quiet with just a couple of other people making the circuit. I noticed that the lights on the bottom floor of the Chandler House were on, which is a first; the second story has been lit up a few mornings but irregularly. I also noticed a sign on the door so I went up to read it and

SOMEONE WAS INSIDE!

I spooked myself, but they were sitting calmly at a table in the front room, doing something. I have no idea if they saw me, I jumped out of view quickly. Mostly I did not want to give them the idea that some masked intruder was incoming (as I am wearing a face mask to reduce pollen intake)! I did get a glimpse of the sign, which was simply instructions for deliveries to go ‘round back.

Still no idea what is going in there, though.
