I thought I timed it perfectly — waited for the rain to break, grab dog, go for walk before another band of bad weather hits. Hold umbrella just in case.
You can see where this is going, and where it is going is warm baths for both Keely and myself after getting absolutely drenched in the rain. :/
One thing I leaned quickly when we moved to Florida back in 1984 is that trying to stay dry during the rainy season, or in the rain at all, is a folly. I can spot the uni students from up north because they think of rain like snow, something you can wear shoes and jackets to ward against. It is not. Galoshes are pointless. I’ve said this before: if you want to walk around in the rain, wear sandals. You’re going to get wet no matter what you do, and at least that way your feet are not sloshing around in a mobile pond of feet water.
So we turned left (south) instead of right at Monroe Ave., which confused Keely a lot until she figured out that I was looping around to take her home at which point I was dragged along. We weren’t even outside for 10 minutes but that did the job, we were both floppy wet by the time we got home.
I made up the time by giving her an overdue bath, which she hates as much as getting stuck in the rain. Not your day, girl, sorry!
I did notice the renovation of the old Purdue Automotive building (shed, really) at 7th and Monroe has progressed. Basically, after stripping it down to the foundation, they are just shoring up the metal studs and putting new metal cladding on the place, but…only half of it? The actual (former) garage bays are not being touched. I assume the crossfit gym that has a sign up there is paying for the renovations of its half of the building but yo’ that looks super weird: half a building shiny and clean with new everything and half of it out of a 1970s gritty movie about car thieves. *squints*
For those following along with the stomach ailment: still on yogurt and bananas but it seems sweet potatoes are okay too, so YAY VARIETY! *slumps over tea mug, cries*
