4/10/2022 – Sunday, and a respite

Over a month after I quit, I finally got my last payout from FSU. It’s not a lot of money (they steal your vacation time, and only give you a portion of accumulated sick leave) but it’s enough to give me a bit of a breather on bills. Not enough to pay off my student loans (and hey, if you want to help, I have a ko-fi for that!) but at this point beggars cannot be choosers.

In writing news, I have reserved a copyeditor for my next MMF book, a dragon-shifter, low-magic fantasy titled The Queen’s Aerie, so I guess I have a deadline for that now? YIKES! It will only be about 90k words (nowhere near as hefty as Wolves of Harmony Heights!) but I am enjoying writing it, and I think it’s got some great characters. 🙂 Hmmm, might need to think about a cover for it. Hmmmm.

I was thinking about all this during our morning walk, which happened later (nearly 8:00 am!) and was very…wandering. Keely was in a mood and I think not feeling great, as she kept trying to eat grass, but insisted we just keep walking. In fact when we got home 45 minutes later, as soon as I unhooked the leash she just pressed her face against the screen door in a clear sign that she was not done yet (normally she would prance into the kitchen and demand food). So, I took her back out for another 30 minutes, and she STILL wanted to keep going but I needed coffee and breakfast! I fed her just a little kibble and she ate it, so I’m keeping an eye on her but she’s sleeping for now.

No photo today, alas. It has to happen sometime I guess!
