I woke up early this morning, but then lounged around a little bit and did not to anything to actually get us going and out the door before 7:00 AM. Keeley was fine with this, up until the time that she wasn’t, when she started flopping all over me to get me awake and out of bed. Eventually we made it out the door to go on our walk in a pleasant 65°F with lower humidity, although that did not stop the mosquitoes who are all out in force at that point.
I was trying to work on dictation with my digital recorder but the Canada geese were being super loud and annoying. They were honking back and forth all over Lake Ella, flying in and flying out, and when they weren’t honking they were hissing. Keeley and I stepped carefully around them.
There has been no progress with the Farm Stores store up at 7th and Thomasville since they laid in the parking lines. Don’t know if they were waiting for those to dry or what, but the porta-potty is still sitting out front and there doesn’t seem to be much going on with the inside of the building in regards to renovations. Still a lot of beer in the refrigerated something, and a few boxes strewn about the floor as well. I have no idea what they’re waiting on, aside from maybe certificates or licenses or something.
There are, however, more flowers. Because spring, and April, and so on:
The only other thing going on is that the Circle K on the corner of 7th and Monroe has gotten a bit of a facelift – not the store itself of course, god forbid anything be upgraded in that pit of despair, but the gas pumps and the awning over the gas pumps all have been replaced and upgraded, and I think the sign with the gas price display on it has also been fixed up. Last time anything like that happened was after one of the big hurricanes came through and tore down the awnings over the gas pumps and damage the sign. I guess since hurricane season is almost over, they figured it was safe to upgrade? Risky, if you ask me!
