dawn at Lake Ella

5/9/2022 – Monday

I got one of those little pop-up notifs from google photos “reminding” me of photos from years past. I thought about what I was doing two years ago when the pandemic had hit, and went back to look at photos from 2018.

You know. 2018. Two years ago.

*face!palm*

I think that error represents a lot about how everyone is feeling…that the last four years have both been the last two years and also yesterday.

Anyway, TWO years ago in 2020 I started a photo album called “Plague Diaries” and while it does not have a lot of pix in it, it does capture some of the flavor, such as this image from May, 2020 of five o’clock “rush hour”:

empty roads

Still seems weird! We were still sorta in lockdown, although by that point right-wing nutcases had completely lost their tiny minds because they could not tolerate face masks and Florida was already on the path to “opening” back up, despite the fact that it can be argued we never went into a full lockdown, not really.

This morning the park was already busy by 7:30 am, mostly regulars but also people just coming out to buy coffee or sit in their cars for mysterious reasons. Honestly this whole city is “back in business” and everyone just wants to pretend the pandemic never happened, despite the fact that over 1 million people died and are still dying. Still getting sick.

Dunno, not feeling particularly optimistic about things these days.
