It was a pleasantly cool morning again, which I will take as long as I can get! We were out a little after 7 am, and as it was a weekend morning, traffic was bare. Keely took us by the back through-ways over to Finnegan’s Wake plaza and then to 3rd Ave., then north up Duval to Publix.
One interesting note is that now, mid-May, Finnegan’s Wake has finally taken down most of the St. Patrick’s Day signs that were still up as of last weekend. That holiday marks a hard line, for Tallahassee: the official city-wide lock down began the day before St. Patrick’s Day. It should have started a few days sooner, honestly, but I understand why businesses were pushing to stave it off until after what is for many bars their most lucrative holiday of the year. However it was already spring break for FSU and most locals (such as myself) were not planning to go congregate anywhere, so I suppose TPTB realized the lock down might as well start. I shudder to think what would have happened if they had held off and let the parties go on as planned, because there were (are) certainly enough fools who would have shown up and made contagion much worse, much faster.
Today’s photo is from Duval St., and reflects my fascination with the intertwining of nature and the urban environment — mostly in how nature is irrepressible, and will cling and creep and conquer.
