dawn at Lake Ella

6/12/2021 – Saturday

Yesterday was longer than expected for me at work — I always underestimate how long it will take me to do something, and processing a 40 minute podcast is one of those things. It is a multistep process that takes a lot of time and energy, especially since I have to create a video version of it to post on YT along with slides, captions, and a transcript. I really need to learn to split that up into two days, as it is exhausting mentally. Lesson learned….eventually.

Then I had a great zoom call with my friend Ada Maria Soto, who lives in New Zealand! We’ve had to work to schedule that call due to time zone issues, and while I was tired after working all day Friday, she was tired due to getting up early on Saturday to take her child to dance classes. We were both a little zoned out but it was great to see her and talk about writing.

THEN it was shabbat services and so by 8:30 pm I was done. I don’t even have a clear memory of stumbling around snacking on cheese for dinner, I only know I did.

Fortunately this morning was far more leisurely! Keely was not thrilled with the late start, which is already pushing us into the dire, moist heat of summer, but we circled over to 3rd Ave. where I saw these new delightful flamingo lamps installed at Island OMG Seafood (the old café cabernet). They are all of different styles, and I liked this one in particular:

So cute! …Keely was not impressed but I managed to keep her from peeing on them. It’s the small things.
