dawn at Lake Ella

6/12/2022 – Sunday

I’m always giving you shots across Lake Ella facing east, because they are honestly the most impressive view during dawn, as the sun crests over the trees and sets the clouds on fire. But the view facing west has it’s own charms, as the warm morning light suffuses the beige-rock cottages. This shot is facing straight on to chef Leon C. Brunson’s restaurant (closer to opening! yay!) and you can see Joe’s Bike Shop off to the right:

morning over the pond facing west

Yesterday started so slowly and somewhere in the mid-morning when I had not gotten anything done anyway due to brain weasels, I just threw in the towel and claimed an amnesty day, or as the kids call it, a “Nope Day.” I noped out of everything except Indian food (a splurge, to be sure) and my bed. It was glorious! Keely enjoyed cuddling with me during our afternoon nap. We did ooze out of the bed around 7:00 pm for her evening walk, at least.

This morning as also slow to start; not sure if I slept through my alarms or if I don’t remember turning them off, but the result was that we did not get out until 7:15 am, when it was already 76°F and over 90% humidity. Still, I took Keely around the pond and then across Monroe Street to wander through the Publix plaza before taking Duval back to 7th. It was a nice hour-long walk and while the sun was glaring at us by the time we made it home, it was pleasant enough.
