As an interesting aside, it’s fascinating to watch the inventory at my crappy local Circle K store from the start of the supply line issues to now. Of course in early days the paper products disappeared, such as toilet paper and paper plates, but there have been some long-term ongoing absences which are curious. Things such as candy and snacks and groceries, but in weird combinations. For instance they get ramen in regularly but not much of it, and are often out of it for lengths of time, yet I have not seen a day where Kraft Mac&Cheese was not on the shelves.
Yesterday there were at least 10+ bottles each of ketchup, strawberry jam, and spaghetti sauce, along with six boxes of Dixie Sugar. But no bread, or pasta (outside of Kraft Mac&Cheese), or peanut butter. In fact the ONLY items I have never seen run out are chips (Doritos, potato chips, etc.), canned soda/energy drinks, and bottled water. They have run out of soda in the soda machines, and different types of beer, and nearly every candy made by Reeses. But not Doritos.
They’ve reduced shelving, I think in a bid not to have so many glaring, empty spaces. I should take a photo next time I’m there, it’s just wild how random the holes on the shelves are.
In the meantime, the Farms Stores store at 7th and Thomasville continues to…do nothing, as far as I can tell. There are some boxes inside that seem to get pushed around a bit, but no new shelves are in place, nothing that might suggest it will open any time in the next couple of months. It has been undergoing renovations since at least November of 2021, after laying fallow for three years before that, so I’m curious about the hold up. It continues to look forlorn, the the wooden deck to the left of the front door (not really visible in this photo) is already starting to warp and fall apart, despite being less than six months old:
