dawn at Lake Ella

6/17/2021 – Thursday

Another quiet early morning stroll around the pond, in the dark and the humidity. We’re due rain over the next few days but I have long ago lost hope that a storm will lower the temperatures by much — it was already 73°F by 5:30 am and it’s set to go up to 93°F by late morning. Summer is truly in effect.

I saw this heron (???? maybe???? I don’t know birds) sitting placidly in the water, watching the ducks. We get a few of these in the pond, but usually they move off before I can get a decent photo. And honestly it’s not a decent photo, but better than a blob.

Keely was sluggish this morning, as I don’t think she’s used to these early-early morning wake up calls anymore either. How we suffer! But once roused she was fine, doing her duty by pee-mail and ignoring the ducks.

My problem was that I over-ate last night, not in the sense of “ate more than allotted” but in “ate past full” which, honestly, tends to happen when my diet is high carbs. Endless spaghetti bowls, anyone? ahahahah! Well I pay the price with discomfort and tummy upset, and I need to just be more aware of my health. We all joke about not being 20 years old anymore but the older I get, the less of a joke it is! So I was very slow moving as my intestines made their displeasure known. I’m focusing on tea this morning.
