dawn at Lake Ella

6/23/2022 – Thursday

It’s getting to a be an old meme by now but YIKES is it hot out. It was already over 80°F at 6:30 am — in fact it was still 86°F at 10:30 pm last night! My apartment is in full-cave mode, with all the blinds closed and curtains drawn. The reflective window film I put up helps a lot, but I’m still running floor fans in any room I’m in. According to one site the heat index right now as I write this is 103°F, with heat index values of 112°F expected later. I honestly don’t remember the weather ever being this awful before, and I’ve lived in Florida since 1984.

Whew. 😭

In more interesting matters, I took this shot earlier this week. It looks pretty bland but what I keep trying to get a good perspective of is the Y shape of the oaks, which have been cut back around the utility lines that run through them:

tress along 7th ave.

Ironically it’s because the road is so well lined with big trees that it is hard to get a good shot of the phenomenon. I have figured out that I would need to put a ladder in the middle of the street to get the right angle and perspective to see them well. In the meantime this is as good as it gets. :/
