dawn at Lake Ella

6/29/2021 – Tuesday

There was a bit of a flash storm late yesterday, and we’re still damp from it this morning because nothing every dries out completely in Florida. But, it was clear and only 72°F, so all in all it was very pleasant out.

It was a doggy morning, too. My neighbor Larry is taking care of a family member’s dog while they are in the process of moving, and she’s a sweetheart but young and excited to meet! new!! friends!!!! 😁 Keely, being an old grumpy girl, was not quite as enthused but suffered through the mutual sniffing with grace.

Then we got down to the park and two young women had, I guess, decided to watch the sunrise. They were spread out on a blanket with their iced coffees and laughing. They had their dog with them, who alas is clearly not well trained, and was barking (practically shrieking) at Keely in excitement and straining its harness to get at us. The dog clearly wanted to play, so there was no inherent sense of danger, but it was a bit awkward so we steered clear.

Now we’re back home and Keely is conked out on our bed. I talk about her doing this after our walks and I finally got a decent shot where she does not look like a grubby throw rug! Here she is, at peace and taking up the whole damn bed:

Keely stretched out

She’ll stay there until about 10 am, when her internal clock informs her that it is time for a snack, at which point she will run into my studio, flop over on her back, and adorably wave her paws in the air until pay attention. I am, after all, very well trained!
