dawn at Lake Ella

6/7/2022 – Tuesday

Today we got out right at 6:00 am and it was ALMOST pleasant out. A mere 68°F and 84% humidity! A hint of a breeze! No sun! It was as good as it gets, going into summer around here. I have reached the stage of not opening the blinds during the day; my apartment resembles a cave but at least it stays cool.

I did take a few pictures, mostly on the auto “landscape” setting for the camera, which I will not apologize for because I’m still trying to wrap my head around the “triangle of exposure” and Keely only has so much patience for me stopping to fiddle with the camera. So, in lieu of some bad photos from this morning (I mean, they aren’t terrible? But also: not great!) here is a Keely throwback to 2017!

baebey Keely!

That was when I still got her groomed regularly, something that dropped off completely after her health scare in 2019. Also, awww, look at her snout which is so much less gray than it is now! This was taken about a year after I got her, and she was still on the Constant Vigilance Setting, as you can tell from her wide eyes. It took another two years of love and safety for her to start asserting her personality, although now I’m glad to report that she is unapologetically spoiled.

This morning was a bit of adventure as we left the park, heading back up the sidewalk on Monroe Street towards 7th Avenue. Keely was attacked by a bird! A small bird, not a duck or goose or hawk. I know nothing about birds but I’d say it looked like a blue bird, all gray and blue. And it HATED Keely. It chased us! It kept dive bombing Keely and while it never made contact I was alert for damages. Did we get too close to its nest/mate? Was it just in a bad mood? Did it confuse us for…something else? No idea! This is a first. Keely was exceedingly confused.

We both escaped unscathed but mostly I looked like a lunatic swinging my cane at the sky just like that meme. LOL!
