dawn at Lake Ella

7/1/2021 – Thursday

In an odd twist, I keep thinking today is Friday. It is not. It is Thursday! Which at least I remembered early enough to make it to the office on time!

I was extremely tired last night, I think due to eating a large dinner late in the evening. It’s weird but I’m just too old for that nonsense, I guess? Eat late, be exhausted, sleep poorly. I usually do not mind getting older but this part is very me-no-likey.

But we got out the door in a timely manner and headed down to the park. Still a lot of missing regulars, which might be due to the rains coming and going, but it was a nice morning aside from the icky, moist humidity so I have to wonder. The homeless people are congregating on the picnic benches by the pond, and while the city already removed two of them I figure it’s just a matter of time before they remove the remaining ones so that no one has any place to sit. Our war against poverty consists mostly of punishing people who are poor by way of punishing everyone through the tactical removal of anything anyone might find useful, like picnic tables and comfortable seating and trashcans. I await the day they tear down the public restrooms.

The good news is there is a duckling brood! Just one, and very small. I managed to snap a shot of them as the mother quickly sped away from where Keely was staring at them:

baby ducks!

Today looks like it will be a busy day at work; nothing too stressful but definitely a lot to do. *sigh* Why can’t I just stay home and write stories????
