dawn at Lake Ella

7/18/2022 – Monday

It actually feels like a Monday, for once. I took Saturday off completely, but while I did do some work yesterday I ended up having an impromptu Ladies Luncheon with my friends Gina and Melody (you might know them from our podcast, Around the Writer’s Table!). Turns out I really needed that bolstering of spirit! Which means today feels like a great day to buckle down and be optimistically productive!

We even got out for our walk a bit before 7:00 a.m. and while it was already 76°F and damp, it was was oppressively so. We did a tour around Lake Ella as usual and managed to avoid the Canada Geese. One homeowner got tired of the geese shitting profusely all over his lawn so bought a plastic cutout of a coyote, which looks hilariously fake to me but not, apparently, to the geese. They avoid that lawn now! The funny thing is that local non-migratory ducks do not avoid it, which says something about how they probably don’t know what a coyote is, while the geese, who do migrate, find it scary enough to steer far clear from it.

I was looking over photos to use and decide it would be neat to show you all the kind of editing I do on them. This photo was used in this blog a few weeks ago, and was taken a little after dawn. The image on the left is the untouched photo, which is very yellow for whatever reason. The one on the right is the result of manipulating it in Affinity Photo (love that program!) and looks more like “real life” to me.
