We got out for our walk before 6 am, so it was calm and still on the streets, although traffic picked up by the time we were done. Can’t say I’ve seen much change in traffic since early June, when the state “re-opening” was in full swing. Less busy than it was pre-pandemic (a phrase I never expected to use in my life, wow) but steady as it has been for weeks now.
Keely was distracted this morning, and I am always so curious about it when this happens. She kept stopping to look around and carefully sniff the air. Dogs do not have good eyesight, but their hearing and sense of smell are superior, so she might have sensed a fox, or feral dog, or a bad person. Or just a storm on the way? We are expected to get rainy weather for the next few days.
I’ll never know what catches her interest, and oftentimes they are fleeting things, but this morning she was distracted almost all the way around the park. There were a few people out, mostly homeless (as usual, they are our modern backdrop) and a couple of regulars, so I doubt it was a person who caught her attention.
I saw one regular has returned, a woman who I suspect is a few years younger than me and is obese — something I remark on because it occurred to me that the people I see exercising the most religiously and regularly and hardest are overweight. We are always doing our damnedest to get out there and do what we are told will make us slim and healthy while most thin people we know don’t bother much, aside from the dedicated athletes. *sigh* Anyway I know she hurt her foot last year, so it’s good to see her doing so well on it.
