Last night was a holiday here in the states, one I used to enjoy a lot as a girl but now view with no small measure of disdain: July 4th “Independence Day”. Since the large celebrations the city sponsors were shut down due to covid19, everyone apparently got their own stashes of fireworks to set off.
I’ve never noticed them bothering Keely before, as she’s very laid back, but now I wonder. Since I was not feeling well (more on that later) I was in bed early, reading, and noticed how unsettled she was. She moved around a lot and slept in weird places, and kept demanding attention.
Now I’m thinking she is bothered by fireworks, just in a low-key, low-energy way. Kinda like me, I guess, we both internalize our anxiety! My perfect doggo. We were both unsettled.
Writing this post up later in the day, but that’s been today’s mood. Did not feel good last night, upset stomach for some unknown reason, but I slept hard and woke up late feeling better so that’s something, I guess?
We have been warned of heavy rains incoming for 24 hours now and they have yet to hit (typical), but this morning when we got out for our walk it was 8 a.m., hot, humid, and sunny. All the worst. Keely was damp by the time we got back just due to condensation on her fur!
There was, however, this delightful revelation:
This mural is just another odd thing to add to O’Hara’s Electric Co. long, long list of weirdness in Mid-Town. The shame is that it cannot be seen from Thomasville Rd. easily, as the main building is set back a bit. Is it someone’s dog? A representation of God? Who knows!!!!
The black squares are labeled with numbers which gives it a paint-by-numbers feel, and also raises the bar for just how explosively bright it will be when finished. I’ll definitely keep you posted.
Feeling adventurous? I just discovered Chinese singer Hua Chenyu, who is pretty amazing. Check out this performance:
