dawn at Lake Ella

8/12/2022 – Friday

Yesterday was odd, and I’m starting there as it was the reason we did not get out for our walk until nearly 8:00 am!!!! I think I got mild food poisoning from lunch, the main suspect being some sour cream. It was not out of date range, so…dunno. But I ate lunch, felt bad, then nearly fell asleep at my desk so went to take a nap which ended up lasting 2+ hours (!!!) and THEN woke up with severe indigestion. Bleargh! I went to bed by 10:00 pm with some advil and benadryl, which altogether knocked me out. I slept in but aside from a delicate tummy I’m feeling better.

So! Late walks for all!

Keely once again got her way (mostly…we’d still be walking if she had her druthers) so we went up to Third Ave. and then cut to Monroe St., as is her wont. Coming back up on Monroe, I saw that Styx Pool Bar opened on the 1st, but no hours listed, and the outdoor patio is blocked off as a few boards are missing. This shot shows, at the far right, the as-yet-unopened “Little Crown’s Kids Hair & More!” salon, which is taking over the long-empty old thrift store location. I don’t know why I took this shot, it’s not very interesting, but it sure does capture the “strip mall in middle America” vibe, doesn’t it?

Of course, Tallahassee is not technically “middle America” but I think at this point that is just the description of a worn down, dirty, and depressing aesthetic, isn’t it?
