Yesterday was unusually social for me, with a long phone call in the morning and a long online meeting in the afternoon then a long, leisurely dinner with KimM in the evening. WHAAAAAAT!?!?!? I know, I barely recognize myself. 😂

Especially in regards to phone calls, which as anyone who knows me knows I notoriously avoid at all costs. I still do for the most part, but I’ve actually picked up some coping mechanisms that help a lot:

  • ear buds: part of the reason I hated phone calls in the past was due to selective hearing loss in certain frequencies. With ear buds I can focus the sound and up the volume to hear everything, so I feel like I’m actually participating in the convo and not just guessing at it.
  • scheduling calls: unplanned calls always made me feel extra anxious, which in turn made me super awkward. By having scheduled time during the week to talk with friends, I can relax and enjoy the conversation.
  • doodling/coloring: finally, I’ve figured out that I actually listen better and calm down a lot in meetings and on phone calls when I can doodle or color. I don’t feel trapped by time, I can relax and go with the flow.

So, today’s photo is one of the coloring projects I’ve done while on the phone recently!

I have a mandala coloring book and it’s about halfway full of colorings like this. I love my glitter gel pens and you can pry them from my cold dead hands!!!!
