dawn at Lake Ella

8/5/2022 – Friday

Had a late dinner with a friend, so ended up staying awake late, so ended up sleeping in late. Funny how that works. *rolls eyes*

Since we did not get out of the house until nearly 8:00 am, I was well-slathered with sunscreen and drank a lot of water beforehand. I took us through Los Robles since it would be shadier over all, and honestly we were pretty fortunate that the temp remained at around 76°F at that late hour.

However, I was super slow to wake up so I just meandered along, zoned out, while Keely sniffed out all the latest news. I did notice that one of the massive oaks in the commons/park of the suburb has been cut down. Looking at the stump, it’s clear that it was rotted through and a danger to leave standing, but still, makes my heart cry to see one of those majestic trees reach the end of their lives. I do wonder if there is any plan to replace them? I should look more closely to see if there are saplings in the park…

This photo, though, is from 3rd Ave. and Monroe St., from our walk that way the other day. This tree is out front the old Masa location (which is STILL empty? So odd!):
