dawn at Lake Ella

8/28/2020 – Friday

It’s FRIDAY! I have spent the last three days actually at the office, due to needing access to tech I do not have at home, so I’m super looking forward to the weekend at this point.

And, therefore, another early morning walk with the dog. I try not to be too repetitive with my photos, but I had to snap this one because two of the lamps along the western edge of the pond were out and so I could grab this image (facing east) without much ambient light nearby in order to capture the feel of how things look at that time of day.

Dawn is there, on the horizon, hiding.

Keely was slow to start herself this morning and took her time sniffing all the bushes and branches and (her favorite) downed spanish moss. She’s been having a rough time lately because I have drastically cut back her snacks and therefore spends a lot of time and energy pouting and snubbing my affections. Ahhh, so easily lost.

I do love it in a horrid dog-mom way, though, because it is her real personality shining through. I’ve talked before about how when I first brought her home she was shy and nervous and uncertain. It took over a year for her to get up on my bed of her own accord (without me picking her up and dumping her there) and another year after that to really feel comfortable doing things like playing with her toys, begging, and barking.

I have to share that she only seems to bark when I am home. The pest control guy came by the other day and as he went through my apartment Keely stood in the hallway (a good ways away from him) barking. He told me she never does that when I’m not there, because she usually is crashed out on my bed and just ignores him. I find this hilarious — is she protecting me? Proving herself a good protector of the house? Who knows! But it is so endearingly sweet and not something she every would have done three years ago.

I have super exciting news that I want to talk about a bit more in depth, so might do a long post tomorrow. It will mean the end of bus riding for me and I’m STOKED!
