Today was a beautiful morning to officially kick off autumn after the equinox yesterday: 75°F and 75% humidity! Together they made for a downright pleasant morning, at at 7:45 am no less! Just two months ago I would not have left the house at that time if I could avoid it. It’s even getting to the point where I crack open the blinds to bring some (filtered) sunlight in here! I’ve lived in a darkened cave all summer (just the way I like to spend my summers!).
Right now we’re waiting on hurricanes headed to Florida, probably. The hurricane season decided to save it all up for the bitter end, I guess?
In more amusing news, this alien was outside of Quarter Moon Imports, lounging suspiciously by the little free library stand. Hmmmm…looking gilded in the morning light, at least? 🤔
On the walk I was listening to a podcast that was talking about burnout, overwhelm, and time stress, and reflected on the fact that it seems we’ve all been going through that this past summer (year? Decade?). We even talked about it on our podcast, Around the Writer’s Table. We’re all so taxed to our limits, I think. I don’t have any solutions, but even as “The Task Mistress” I don’t think “doing more better” is the solution. Maybe “doing what we can” is enough?
