dawn at Lake Ella

9/9/2022 – Friday

I rolled out of bed and immediately got Keely bustled out the door because the trustworthy weather app said it would be raining hard in less than an hour, so yeah, we were walking at 5:30 am just like old times. *grimaces* While we did not get the promised deluge, it did start raining by the time we were on the last lap home, so good for us, I guess!

There was a bit of drama-from-a-distance as there was a man walking down the middle of the road yelling loudly about…God? Friends? Don’t know. Impossible to tell if this was some kind of mental break or if he was drunk/tripping…anything is possible. He was smart enough to hide somewhere when the cops came looking for him (I suspect they heard him from the cop shop parking lot, which faces the park, as no one else but me was walking at that time and I sure as hell did not call the cops). They circled around for a few times but he did not start with the shouting again until they left.

We are on the other side of the loop from where he was, but he ambled up to Ofc. Ponce Way as we were headed back, still shouting. What’s interesting about this otherwise mundane story was watching the women who were coming out to walk their dogs or take a run. They all about-faced when they heard him. Personally I was walking fast as he came up behind us and when I got home I locked the doors tight and turned off lights.

It’s just what we are trained to do, when unstable men are around. We all changed our normal routes to avoid him. Fascinating to watch it happen in real time.

Well, that was the excitement for the morning. Still waiting for more rain to come in. Meantime, a photo from earlier this week. Nothing exciting but the Spanish moss lovers will enjoy it:
