dawn at Lake Ella

9/15/2020 – Tuesday

Hurricane Sally is not a threat to Tallahassee but indirectly is bringing us a lot of rain, so this is how the morning walk went:

While it was only drizzling at the time (heavy rain came later) it was enough to discombobulate Keely completely. Nonetheless a walk was required because hard rains cancelled our long evening walk last night, and while Keely can hold her bladder much better than I can hold mine, there are limits!

I gave her lead, knowing she would not want to be out for long enough to do our regular trip around Lake Ella. She dithered at the bottom of our driveway, eventually crossed the street then crossed back over and headed east up 7th toward Thomasville Road. She crossed that and then headed south but only just past Orange Theory (so many people working out! Are gyms excepted on the face mask order? I guess so, no one was wearing them). We ended up cutting through their driveway down to Gadsden and then right back up to 7th avenue again.

Hence, I think she got lost. She really did not seem to have any clue about where she wanted to go, which I think was the conflict in her brain of not wanting to be out in the rain while also knowing she needed to do her business. She definitely did NOT want to tour around Los Robles though so eventually I steered her back to home, and she finally gave in to her needs on the police HQ lawn.

By the time we got home I was damp and she was soaked, so after scarfing her breakfast down she went and dramatically flopped on my bed (where I had the foresight to lay down one of her towels).

It looks like the rain is going to be with us for a few days as Sally churns, comes ashore, and then pivots to sail by just north of us. Poor Keely-boo!
