Suffering from a headache this morning, in part from poor sleep and part from poor weather. We are under tornado warnings the whole damn day as this hurricane spins its course to sweep up over us into Georgia and beyond. I’m drinking a lot of tea and holding myself back from taking too much aspirin.
But there was a break in the rain, at least, so Keely got a full walk in while without getting soaked. She was again of a mood and wanted to careen east up to Thomasville Road as she did yesterday but I kept the lead and we went around Lake Ella as usual.
Without rain, the weather was a strange mix of strong wind and complete stillness. At times the trees were battered and the water rough, while a minute later there was quiet tranquility. The poor confused ducks kept getting in and out of the water every time the weather shifted, although it was a good sign that they were out and about at all. You never see them when a hurricane is on direct approach.
Keely nearly got loose by trying to chase down a passing cat, which was so shocking to me I just stood there blinking for a good while as she yanked on her leash. She almost never tries to chase anything, more likely to stare balefully at cats than confront them. I suspect the weather has her riled up…although of course the minute we got home she went and flopped into bed and started snoring. She usually does sleep through bad weather, short of hurricanes.
I was supposed to go into campus today but I’ve ducked out due to the tornado warnings, which is fine because most anything I would do at the office I can do at home, thankfully.
