dawn at Lake Ella

9/17/2020 – Thursday

The rain has cleared! There were still clouds and some wind from the ragged edges of Sally passing us by, but we had a nice, mostly-dry walk for the first time in three days this morning.

Keely was not entirely happy about it, as the pond known as Lake Ella was very, very full (not quite to the brim, but another day of rain would have pushed it to flooding) and there were puddles everywhere, so she went slowly and carefully about her business. Naturally, she mostly walked on the sidewalk curb, as far away from the restless water as possible.

She’s from down south, so is a Florida native, and I wonder maybe if she had a run in with an alligator or two when she was younger. She just really does not like bodies of water, large or small!

I have to go into the office today — we’re short staffed as one of the student workers had close exposure to someone who tested positive, so like a line of dominoes anyone who had been in contact with that student worker now has to quarantine too. We knew it would happen at some point, and quite frankly it will happen again. But I can keep to my office, and we’re all wearing masks responsibly.

I would say “2020 can go jump off a cliff” but it seems like it’s already jumped the shark.
