dawn at Lake Ella

9/30/2020 – Wednesday

There is a c-drama I love called The Untamed (well worth watching if you love romance and tragedy and tragic romances) with a sect called Gusu Lan who have an infamously strict sleep routine that everyone, in universe and out, makes fun of: asleep by 9 pm, wake up at 5 am.

I thought of this with no small amount of chagrin last night at 8:50 pm as I got ready to turn off the lights and turn on my sleep sounds in order to be ready to wake up at 5 am.

*sighhhhhhhhhhh*

They say the early bird gets the worm but worms are disgusting and honestly I hate this schedule, but it’s by necessity if only incidentally by choice.

We were out for our walk by 5:45 am (as even with my wonderful daylight alarm I do not actually get out of bed until 5:20 am at the earliest) and it was a striking 59°F! I had to wear layers! Amazing!

Still a bit humid, though, so while I opened up the house when we got back I doubt I’ll keep it open all morning.

The slight chill (don’t laugh, this is Florida!) meant most regulars were not there. The woman I used to call Power Walker has become Power Jogger, and in the 10+ years I’ve been walking around this pond is the very first and only person I’ve seen visibly lose weight doing so. More importantly, I think she’s finally realized that Keely won’t lunge for her and is not dashing across the road when we pass each other going in opposite directions.

I never slight people who avoid dogs, because that kind of phobia is real and as much as I love dogs I also have seen more than a few dog fights in my time and they are scary as hell. I carry a heavy cane not for me but to protect Keely, after all.
