Today is a day of victory, because I got on my bike and went for a ride. A very short ride, but a ride nonetheless. I think it has been at least two years since I even tried to go for a ride, and it was exhilarating. I had forgotten how much sheer joy I get from riding.
I have more to say about that, in a blog post going up on my site later this weekend, but for now, that’s the big news.
Morning started early for no reason I can figure; Keely really wanted to go out though, which is honestly not something she is usually too keen to do first thing so I hustled myself out the door by 6 am. Since it is the weekend we went long, about an hour and 15 minutes, although it was only long according to the clock as we were both moving slowly. Me, because I was not technically awake; Keely, because she was excited about all the smells.
At first there was a bit of breeze, cooling us down, but it faded quickly. Alas. Still suffering through summer, here.
Speaking of suffering, I really liked how this caught branch looked under the bright street lamp’s light so you get to suffer through my faux-artistic photography. Aren’t you glad you’re here?
We got home just as dawn was cresting, and settled in for a bit of a rest. I’m at the age where the joy of the weekend is not sleeping in but going back to bed with tea, doggo, and a good read to enjoy. Bliss!
