I managed to keep Keely wrapped in slumber until about 8 am, which I think is a record? Helped that her last walk was around 10 pm last night.
It was bright and cold (40°F) when we stumbled out into the morning, with traffic already picking up. Our normal 5th Ave. Loop took us past all the closed businesses before even Red Eye opened. Late for me, still early for a Sunday I guess.
It was also a Vivaldi morning. Usually I prefer the more energetic pick me up of my youtube “happy dancey” playlist or a pandora station but my brain was sluggish so I went with Vivaldi violin concertos. That makes me sound so sophisticated but I don’t know much about music, especially classical music, other than the mood it strikes in me. Vivaldi is always a fan favorite I guess but I love how his violin concertos are both uplifting and full of complexity, deep without being burdensome. I’m sure they would “sound” different if I understood music theory, but I don’t, so I enjoy them as given.
On a morning where the air was crisp and the rising sun tinged my world with molten highlights, Vivaldi was the right choice for me to just swim in the simplicity of walking with my dog.
We don’t talk, Keely and I. She walks along and surreptitiously looks over at me occasionally to check on me (to see if I’m still there? To gauge my mood? I have no idea), and I listen to whatever I’m in the mood for, and we stroll around in our own little world. Often, that is enough.
