dawn at Lake Ella

3/25/2020 -Wednesday

The stay-in-place order for my county was announced last night, include an 11 pm to 5 am curfew, but I honestly don’t see that it’s affected much of anything. People can go out to do “essential” duties which include shopping, exercising, and, yes, work. So really it’s just to limit socializing?

This morning there were plenty of cars on the road at 6:30 am, which is when I finally stumbled out of bed to start my day (my allergies are a riot, as I’ve mentioned, so I took antihistamines last night which knocked me out but good). Also a good handful or two of people walking around Lake Ella. Because I was late I got to actually see the dawn for a change.

Sometimes being fully present during these walks is hard. I lean towards anxiety in general, and when that is what my brain is engaged with it becomes hard not to freewheel through synapses of worry and fear and sadness. But it’s pointless, really, given how peaceful the immediate world around me is…we create these internal circuses that do not reflect the scene we are moving through.

Despite the exercisers and the cars and the loud buzz of the Groundskeeper’s air blower, the park was mostly still and patient, waiting for the sun.
