Another later morning start, but it being Sunday during Pandemic Hours there was, again, no traffic to speak of even at 8 am.
We went southbound down Thomasville Rd. to where it meets Monroe St., then headed north. I wanted to look at the businesses along the main drags, see what signs they have, if they are open or closed or something in between. Most seem to be on limited hours, with a lot of “YES WE ARE OPEN” signs on doors and windows that only look slightly desperate.
Except the hair and nail salons, which if they have a sign at all, just state “closed until lock down is lifted.”
Along the way, spring is hitting me in the face with all the blooming flowers again. This picture is of a magnolia bloom already a couple of days old, but hanging in there.
But it was also not too hot — the sun was bright but in the shade, it was still a nice, cool temperature — so even despite the later start, it was pleasant. In a month or so, I won’t be able to start this late in the morning and go for long walks, the heat will be too much for either of us. Keely is a black-furred dog, and she really does not handle hot days too well.
The funniest part is that I am out in my schlubby clothes walking my scraggly dog but wearing super fancy earrings. I realized yesterday that my 0g peircings are starting to shrink due to the fact that I’m not wearing earrings ever. Not going to work or going out socially, I just don’t. Mistake! So I got my old 2g heavy steel dangling earrings and am wearing those all day to stretch out the piercings. It’s quite the contrast!
I suppose that’s all of us in isolation, I guess, trying to figure out ways to keep normalcy in play.
