dawn at Lake Ella

5/8/2020 – Friday

Hmmm, apparently starting my day “late” means I forget to do these posts as I rush to log on for my day!job. So today I’m starting earlier and getting this done!

Keely was super keen on getting up by 5:30 am anyway, and was very insistent as I took my meds and used the facilities to GET ON WITH IT! It is so wonderful to see her little demanding personality now; it took a couple of years for her to really adjust to being safe here, and was always on high alert. When she first came home she was shy of even getting on my bed, much less near me while on it — now she comes and goes throughout the night and belly flops on me when she wants me to get up.

It was a nice, cool, and fairly dry morning. At 54°F it was just chilly enough for me to wear sneakers and a light jacket. Also so very clear out — pretty, but this is supposed to be our wet season, and this lack of rain is fueling the wildfires happening about 200 miles west of Tallahassee in the panhandle. No smoke drifting our way, thankfully, but its sobering to think of what is being destroyed so close by.

This photo is from yesterday, when we started a bit later and the sun was fully cresting over the treetops. Fairly untouched photo, just sharpened and cropped a bit, but this is how it actually looked.

I noticed that Golden Corral is still closed, and that supports my theory that the majority of restaurants will not be opening their dining rooms just yet. At an enforced capacity of 25% they can’t make the money to sustain. Further pushing my belief that this re-opening nonsense is not based on any real logic or reason, sadly.
