It was nigh unbearable this morning, with 85% humidity and temps at 80°F. Summer is here, and it gonna beat us UP. I hear El Nino is packing a punch which usually means more storms for us too…welcome to the pandemic, hurricane season!
This is another day for me to head into the office (by bus no less) so I got Keely and my lazy self out by 5:30 am. There is a row of picnic tables near the pond, and usually there is one or two homeless people there, dozing or talking. This morning there were a whole slew of them sleeping on the tables (I image to keep off the damp ground). It really does infuriate me that as a society we leave people like this, the garbage of our “advanced” civilization.
Perhaps in regards to civilization, cruelty was always the point.
Keely was damp and annoyed about it by the time we got home, just from the condensation on her fur. When I left the house she was sprawled out on my bed, which I have discovered is where she tends to spend her mornings. By noon she is migrating between the living room and the studio, not to even enter the bedroom again until I retire for the night. I love knowing things like that about her. She’s so CUTE!!!!!!
Anyway, I did notice that traffic is down significantly again. This photo was taken around 7:15 am, which in pre-pandemic times was rush hour.
Over the past month, traffic had picked up again but I think people are finally (maybe?) taking this second wave of covid19 seriously and trying to stay home. Naturally, I’m not able to due to a couple of projects I am doing where I need to be at the office to do them.
But riding the bus worries me, though. People are half-assed with masking up and today the bus I transferred to did not even get a wipe-down in between offloading and loading riders, which I believe they are supposed to every time the bus comes into the downtown station.
I wish I was fit enough to just ride my bike, instead. Might have to work on that.
